Prof. Dr. Chin-hua Chia, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia,Malaysia


Chia is currently a Professor in the Materials Science Program, Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). He is currently the Head of Materials Science Program, UKM. He obtained his bachelor’s degree (Hons.) and Ph.D. in Materials Science from UKM in 2003 and 2008, respectively. Chia has started his career as Senior Lecturer at the Materials Science Program, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia in 2008. He was promoted to Associate Professor and Professor in 2013 and 2021, respectively. His research focuses on syntheses of metallic and polymer nanomaterials, with a particular emphasis on the structure control to tailor the properties of the materials in determining their performances for different applications, including wastewater treatment, supercapacitor, and hydrogen production. His core research interests include the development of nanomaterials and nanocomposites, including metallic nanostructures, graphene/graphene oxide, nanocellulose, etc. Chia has published 220 peer-reviewed articles, 4 books, 5 book chapters. His current H-index is 40. He has obtained the UKM Young Scientist Award and Malaysian Solid State Science and Technology (MASS) in 2012 and 2014, respectively. Chia also received the Distinguished Lectureship Award by the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) in 2017.
